Chocolate Avocado Mousse
Ingredients
- 1 Banana
- 3 tbsp Cacao
- 1 Avocado
- 2 tblsp Honey
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 2 tbsp Water
- pinch Sea Salt
Instructions
- Peel and stone the avocado, then peel and roughly chop the banana. Place both into a blender or food processor.
- Add the cacao powder, honey, lemon juice, vanilla extract, water, and a pinch of sea salt. Blend until completely smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides if needed.
- Taste the mousse and adjust the sweetness if necessary by adding a little more honey or a few drops of stevia.
- Spoon the mousse into small glasses or dessert cups. Sprinkle with extra cacao powder or cacao nibs if desired.
- Serve immediately, or chill for 20–30 minutes for a cooler, firmer dessert. If the banana was not frozen, chilling is recommended before serving.
Tips
- Use very ripe, soft avocados to ensure a completely smooth, lump-free texture.
- Use a high-powered blender or food processor and scrape down the sides frequently while mixing.
- Chill the mousse for at least 2 hours; the flavor and texture improve significantly as it sets.
Variations
- Mocha Mousse: Add a teaspoon of instant espresso powder to the blend for a deep coffee-chocolate flavor.
- Orange Chocolate: Add a few drops of orange extract and some fresh orange zest for a bright contrast.
Storage
Serving Suggestions
- Top with fresh raspberries and a few shavings of dark chocolate.
- Serve with a dollop of coconut whipped cream for a fully vegan dessert.
