Lasagna Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Sour Cream
- 2 tbs Chopped Onion
- 1/2 tbs Dried Oregano
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 8 slices Bread
- 8 slices Bacon
- 8 slices Tomato
- 4 slices Mozzarella
- 2 1/2 Tbs Butter
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, chopped onion, dried oregano, and salt. Mix until smooth and well blended.
- Spread the mixture evenly over four slices of bread. Layer each with bacon, tomato slices, and mozzarella cheese, then top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt most of the butter. Add the sandwiches and cook until lightly browned on one side.
- Carefully flip the sandwiches and continue cooking, adding the remaining butter if needed, until both sides are golden and the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from the pan and serve hot.
Tips
- Use cold, leftover lasagna so the layers stay intact and don’t slide out of the bread.
- Butter the outside of the bread and grill it slowly to ensure the lasagna filling gets hot all the way through.
- Choose a sturdy bread like sourdough or thick white ‘Texas Toast’ to support the weight of the lasagna.
Variations
- Extra Cheese: Add a slice of mozzarella or provolone on either side of the lasagna slice before grilling.
- Garlic Bread Sandwich: Use garlic butter on the outside of the bread for a classic flavor pairing.
Storage
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with a side of warm marinara sauce for dipping.
- Pair with a simple arugula salad to cut through the heavy carb-on-carb richness.
